Your Treatment: What to Expect

All patients must undergo a complete physical and mental health workup with Dr. Hansen or another physician at Albany Ketamine. The initial dose will be based mostly on your weight with minor adjustments for your age and physical condition. Subsequent doses may be adjusted depending on your response to the initial infusion. The infusion will last approximately 60 minutes for mood disorders, while patients undergoing treatment for Neuropathic Pain have a longer process. The entire time, Albany Ketamine will be monitoring your blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation with non-invasive equipment. Staff will also monitor your response to the medication to make sure your ketamine drip rate is properly adjusted.

When the infusion ends, you will begin to regain your full faculties within minutes and will be allowed to relax in your treatment room until you feel ready to leave. The effects are most often completely gone after 15-20 minutes.

Assuming you begin to feel better during the initial treatments, a total of six infusions is recommended within a twelve-day period, which will maximize the ketamine effect on new dendrite and synapse growth.
