Dr. John Fleming is at the helm of Colorado Springs Ketamine Treatment Center. He is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He can provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families as well as the management of the biological components of psychiatric illness using medications or non-medication treatments. Regarding ketamine specifically, Dr. Fleming has been conducting ketamine treatment via both IM and IV modalities since 2013.

What to Expect at Colorado Springs Ketamine Treatment Center
Pre-Appointment
Those who are not currently patients of Dr. Fleming’s will meet with him to discuss their diagnosis and treatment prior to making a new plan. Current patients will work with him to determine readiness.
Once a patient’s infusion is scheduled they should reach out to a trusted friend or family member and ask they drive them home the day of the appointment.
Patients receive the infusions in a private room with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. A doctor will also oversee the process.
They will administer the appropriate dose of ketamine through an IV over 40 minutes.
Patients will remain awake throughout the infusion.
Most patients describe a relaxing and peaceful experience. Some also notice changes in their vision, a feeling of lightheadedness, floating, or disconnection coupled with slower thoughts.
Typically, patients are at the office for a total of 90 minutes.
Post-Initial Appointment
Some patients will begin to feel better within hours of the first infusion. Others may not notice any mood improvement until the next day. Or until they administer a second or even a third infusion.
Most patients will require just 1 or 2 infusions to know if ketamine will help them. If a patient has positive results, they recommend 6 total infusions within the first 2 weeks. After that, you can schedule maintenance infusions to maintain response, usually after 3-5 weeks after completing the initial series of 6.
The total length of treatment is highly dependent on each individual.
A series of 6 infusions may last anywhere from weeks to months, and often a single booster infusion when effects are wearing off can restore response.
For those who have not had long-standing chronic depression, infusions may last much longer than that.
