The wellness center was formed in 1962 after Harry M. Dent became diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. His experience with the illness led to the Dent Family Foundation being established by his son, Harry M. Dent Jr.

Along with renowned neurologist Dr. William R. Kinkel, the two worked towards treating Parkinson’s disease — eventually leading to the Dent Neurologic Institute Buffalo being born. Today, the neurological institute is “one of the most comprehensive neurological centers in the United States.”

The dedication of the staff at the institute and their willingness to utilize cutting-edge therapies such as ketamine have earned them their top spot in neurological care.

Your Treatment: What to Expect at DENT Neurologic Institute

Patients will go through a screening using several tests and procedures to determine if they are eligible for ketamine treatment. Typically, the DENT protocol begins with one or two infusions, depending on the patient, to see if ketamine infusions are useful. The results from the initial infusions will indicate how many more will take place.

During the ketamine infusion, you will be awake. The dosage is not high enough to cause you to fall asleep. Still, you may feel tired during and after the treatment. The length of each treatment varies from patient to patient. Many patients feel better during the treatment itself. Others notice a marked improvement in mood or pain levels within a day of treatment. During the infusion, you may experience side effects, like an altered mental status, although you will be alert and able to talk. Patients have also reported blurred vision, slurred speech, mental confusion, nausea, and vomiting. You will return to a healthy mental state rapidly when the infusion is over.

Do not drive, care for others, or sign essential papers on the day of treatment. The patient must arrange a way of transportation as they will be unable to drive.

Who is this treatment for?

Those who have not been helped by conventional treatment strategies have another option with ketamine treatments. Research in the last 7-10 years has shown that ketamine infusions are effective for those suffering from treatment-resistant mental health conditions and chronic pain conditions. Either as an alternative to or a supplement to mainstream treatments, ketamine infusions offer an alternative path to healing for those who have lost hope.

I started going to the Ketamine clinic for CRPS and the clinic isn’t setup for anyone with this disease because they don’t have a doctor there to titrate the dosage of Ketamine that a CRPS patient requires to treat the patient the way they should be treated. I had spent ten thousand dollars only to find out that after nine months they only raised my dosage once. Dent needs to take this disease off their website so that someone else doesn’t go there thinking they will get the help they need. I feel like they took advantage of me and now I have to start over and spend alot more money to get the treatment I should have already gotten.
Sign me saddened and very disappointed with Dent I thought they were a better Neurological Institute. If anyone else is thinking of using this clinic I would suggest calling other Ketamine clinics to make sure that Dent isn’t wasting your money and time wasting your money and time.
