The highly skilled medical professionals at Relievus Pain Management share one thing: a devotion to helping people overcome chronic pain. The clinic provides people with ketamine therapy to help relieve the symptoms of major depression, complex regional pain syndrome, and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Ketamine therapy has been shown to be a viable solution to chronic pain and mood disorder symptoms.
Relievus Pain Management serves the New Jersey area and uses ketamine in the effort to help those that haven’t found relief from their disorders through traditional forms of treatment. The staff at the clinic is dedicated to each and every patient and their compassion and knowledge make them a great choice for ketamine therapy in the state.
A preliminary consultation and evaluation of your medical history will determine if you’re a worthwhile candidate for ketamine and assess if you have any health conditions that make ketamine unsafe. If you’re approved to proceed with ketamine infusion therapy, Relievus Pain Management typically begins with one or two infusions back to back to see if they are effective for you.
During the infusions, ketamine is administered over a period of 45 minutes to 60 minutes. The amount given will not cause you to lose consciousness. During the infusion, most patients have a mild dissociative experience, with increased sensitivity to light and sound and an altered perception of time and color. Most patients tolerate these experiences without discomfort and many people find them to be pleasant. In the rare case these side effects are considered unpleasant, other rapid-acting medications can be used to relieve or eliminate this discomfort. Once the infusion is complete, the dissociative effects of the drug rapidly dissipate and are often mostly gone within 20-30 minutes. There are no delayed “flashbacks” and patients generally leave Relievus Pain Management’s offices within 30 minutes following the infusion and aside from mild fatigue, feel much like themselves.
Most patients who respond to the infusions see some improvement the day of or after their second infusion. If not, Relievus Pain Management may attempt a longer and/or higher dose infusion. If there is still no response, the clinic generally stop further treatment. If ketamine does improve your mood, outlook, and functionality, Relievus Pain Management suggests that you receive 2-4 additional infusions over the next 4 weeks (1-2 infusions every 2 weeks) to maximize ketamine’s brain-repairing abilities. That is a total of 6 infusions for one full series.
