Laura Wiginton LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that provides ketamine-assisted psychotherapy to help patients overcome chronic mood disorders. As a member of the American Society of Ketamine Practitioners, Wiginton is experienced in administering and monitoring the use of ketamine for mood-related issues. Conditions she treats using ketamine therapy include depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Patients visiting Laura Wiginton LCSW can expect to receive warm and compassionate care in a welcoming environment. Wiginton’s mission is to combine kindness and science to offer patients a new type of care for conditions that have not been easily treated using traditional forms of medicine.
By providing ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, Wiginton can offer patients the opportunity to regain control over their health once and for all.
Laura is partnered with Dr. Sandhya Prashad, and together they work with patients to customize a treatment plan. Prior to scheduling a Ketamine Assisted Therapy session, prospective patients need to schedule an initial assessment with Laura as well as complete a medical evaluation and screening with Dr. Prashad.
During a Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy session, the medicine is administered via lozenge or Intramuscular Injection (IM) under the medical supervision of Dr. Prashad. This method differs from the Intravenous (IV) model (though the IV model can be appropriate and the right choice for some patients).
Initial therapy assessments are 60 minutes in length, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions are 3 hours in length.
Laura and Dr. Prashad recommend a commitment of at least 4 sessions, as the treatments can have a cumulative benefit.
KAP therapy is billed at $200/hour, and insurance rarely covers the cost. However, Laura will provide you with a “Superbill” if you have “out-of-network” mental health benefits and would like to submit this to your insurance company for partial reimbursement.
The medical portion of the KAP experience is billed separately by Dr. Prashad’s office and will vary based on your individualized treatment plan. You will have the opportunity to discuss costs with Dr. Prashad at your medical screening/intake appointment.
