At Blue Sky Ketamine in Santa Fe, ketamine infusions offer hope for recovery from debilitating mood disorders and chronic pain. Issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, disorder, addiction, and complex regional pain syndrome are often treated.

Dr. David Rosen, one of the original founders of Santa Fe Ketamine, has over two decades of experience treating depression and other mood disorders. He has administered over 2,000 ketamine infusion treatments since 2016. His experience and compassion are what make him a respected figure in his field.

Using ketamine for depression and other chronic conditions, Dr. Rosen and the staff at Blue Sky Ketamine have given people a new lease on life. Dr. Rosen is also hoping to draft protocols that will make ketamine infusions a first-line treatment for acutely suicidal patients.

Important Info:

  • Financial assistance is available for qualified patients.
  • Cancellations must be made more than 24 Hours in advance, with the exception of prior permission from clinic staff.
  • Blue Sky Ketamine sees themselves as procedural experts rather than mental health professionals. As a result, they will need a referral from your physician, health care provider, psychiatrist, or therapist. This is not a complicated process, and usually involves you filling out a release form so Blue Sky Ketamine’s physicians can speak someone from your healthcare team.

Your Treatment: What to Expect

Most ketamine clinics use medics, nurses, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants to supervise the ketamine infusion, but at Blue Sky Ketamine, Dr. Rosen is available during your entire treatment session. He will supervise your infusion and adjust your dose, if necessary, to optimize your experience.

The ketamine treatment itself takes about an hour. When you arrive, your vital signs will be checked, and an IV will be placed. Ketamine is then administered intravenously slowly over 40 minutes. After about 20 minutes, you may notice changes in your perception, altered thought patterns, and the feeling of being in a dream-like state. By the end of the 40 minutes, you may feel a sense of being outside of your body. Most people describe the experience as pleasant or euphoric. You will be awake, but people often find it difficult to communicate. The clinic recommends resting comfortably with eyeshades and calming music of your choice.

Going forward, most patients complete the 6 session course and do not need periodic maintenance boosters, but some do require periodic infusions, typically spaced every 4-6 weeks to maintain the significant gains they have achieved through the initial treatment sessions.

I sought out Blue Sky Ketamine for help with my chronic back pain. Two car rear-ends resulting in a twice broken back, two major neurosurgeries, lost count of the epidurals and other treatments, and I’d still sometimes not e able to get out of bed.

The treatment I received here was professional, humane, inviting… and effective. It is not possible to thank Dr. Rosen and staff enough.
