Ketamine Wellness Institute in Chapel Hill, North Carolina logo

The expert caregivers at Ketamine Wellness Institute in Chapel Hill, North Carolina base their practice on an empathetic understanding of their patients’ needs. Taking the time to get to know their patients allows the clinical team to avoid the “cookie-cutter medicine” adopted by many primary care physicians. This is important in understanding what ketamine is used for, and the unique challenges that each condition brings. Of the approximately 16 million individuals who struggle with depression, many have little success with mainstream medicines. Ketamine therapy offers a safe, effective, and clinically proven alternative.

The Ketamine Wellness Institute is headed by co-founders Dr. Bilal Lateef and Dr. Muhammad Ashraf. The doctors bring to the clinical team an expert knowledge of anesthesia practices, neurobiology, and psychology. Further, both demonstrate a commitment to improving the mental and physical health of their communities. The clinic’s mission statement is “to provide high-quality care in a comfortable, private, and, most importantly, SAFE environment.”

Your Treatment: What to expect at Ketamine Wellness Institute

Once ketamine is determined to be a suitable treatment, the infusion is administered by an experienced anesthesia provider. Patient monitoring throughout the process helps to make sure that the experience is a safe and comfortable one. The low-dose ketamine treatment takes approximately 40 minutes, followed by a 30-minute recovery period. Some patients experience elevated blood pressure and nausea, among other mild side effects. Side effects are also closely monitored, and dissipate soon after the infusion ends.
