Once ketamine has been determined to be suitable in treating your condition, Dr. Aina crafts a treatment plan based on each individual’s particular needs. A general treatment plan consists of 6 infusions over the course of two to three weeks. Infusions last for approximately 45 minutes, during which time some patients experience sensations of floating or dissociation. Although side effects wear off soon after the infusion ends, patients will require a friend or family member to drive them home.
Ketamine therapy at Tri-Med Frisco is recommended for those who have tried numerous oral antidepressants and coping strategies, but have found little to no relief of depressive symptoms, or have experienced significant negative side effects from mainstream medications. Although not guaranteed, ketamine shows a 75-80% effectiveness in treating difficult to manage or treatment resistant conditions.
