Your Treatment: What to Expect at Center for Pain Management

During an infusion procedure, patients may receive lidocaine or ketamine, along with other medications. The procedure may last for a few hours, and the pain-relieving effects can continue for several weeks. After an infusion, patients may feel groggy for several hours, so they will need someone to drive them home from their appointment.

Who is this treatment for?

Ketamine infusion treatment may help patients who want to reduce their use of opioid medications. This procedure may not be appropriate for patients who have high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias, or other conditions. Center for Pain Management may recommend other treatments – such as a spinal cord stimulator implant – for patients who are not ideal candidates for infusion treatment.

Is it possible to do ketamine treatments instead of opioid use? What if someone doesn’t want to take opioids and just wants to do the ketamine treatment? Is that possible? Or do you have to go through other things first before doing the gun treatment?
