The Illumma Bee Cave team take their name seriously, believing that everyone deserves a chance “to spread their light.” The team is led by Dr. Ken Adolph, a highly experienced and trained professional in the use of ketamine. Dr. Adolph brings to the practice not only his professional qualifications but also first-hand experience with the difficulties anxiety can bring to one’s life. The clinical team see ketamine infusion as a way to move past, or make peace, with the traumas of chronic conditions, in order to improve the lives of their patients. Ketamine therapy offers a safe, often quick-acting, route to healing.

  • Some medications will need to be suspended during your treatment period. These will be identified at your initial consultation. Always stop medications under the care of a primary health provider.
  • It is unsafe to undergo ketamine infusion if suffering from the following conditions: uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension); active substance abuse; untreated thyroid disease; active manic phase of bipolar disorder; active delusions or hallucination symptoms (not on medications/street drugs)

Your Treatment: What to Expect

Once ketamine is determined to be an appropriate treatment, infusions take place over the course of an hour at the Illumma Bee Cave clinic. Many patients report a feeling of sedation and dreaminess during ketamine infusion, as well as changes in thought processes. These are normal side effects, though a trained staff member is on hand to monitor effects and adjust medication to stop any adverse effects. Most effects dissipate about 30 minutes after the treatment ends, though patients will want to “take it easy” for a day or so.

Who is this treatment for?

Ketamine therapy at the Illumma clinic is for those who have not found relief from chronic pain and/or mental health conditions using traditional oral medications. As an alternative to these medications, and in conjunction with the care of a primary psychiatric caregiver, ketamine therapy can provide route to healing and well-being. Some patients report positive change after only one session, and 70-80% of patients report significant reduction in symptoms after finishing a full course of treatment.
