Infusions of Texas in The Woodlands, Texas logo

As Medical Director Michael Nguyen says in the Infusions of Texas’ Mission Statement, this ketamine infusion clinic seeks to provide “unparalleled and individualized care based on the uniqueness of each individual.” In conjunction with this individualistic focus, the holistic approach of the clinic, located in Draper, Texas, provides cutting-edge treatment to those suffering from difficult to manage mental health conditions. The comfortable and private clinic and skilled office staff make Infusions of Texas a safe and hopeful alternative for clients whose results from mainstream treatments have been disappointing.

Infusions of Texas is led by Dr. Nguyen, who brings knowledge of both psychiatric practices and emergency medicine to the clinic. Ketamine is recognized as one of the safest medicines in use for anesthesia and has been in use in emergency medicine for almost 50 years. The doses administered during infusions are significantly lower than those used in emergency medicine. The clinical staff are trained in this “off-label” use of ketamine, and strive to make the treatment experience stress-free and, ultimately, productive. Dr. Nguyen and his team can offer hope where it was once lost.

Important Info

  • Infusions of Texas requests that you provide your most recent labs (within the past 3 months) that include an urinalysis, EKG, and additional basic tests. Women of child-bearing age will need to undergo pregnancy testing to ensure that they are not pregnant before starting treatment.
  • Ketamine interacts negatively with the following conditions: severe cardiac history; conditions being treated with MAOIs; Glaucoma; increased intracranial pressure; beta-blocked patients with a history of congestive heart failure; and Wolff-Parkinson White syndrome.
  • Ketamine therapy is considered an “off-label” use of the medication, and is therefore not covered by most insurance providers.
  • Close communication with a primary care giver is highly recommended, but referrals are not required.
  • Infusions of Texas works with Mood Monitor, an app that serves as a central hub to track your progress, communicate in between appointments, and fine-tune your treatment plan.

Your Treatment: What to Expect

Before treatment begins, the clinic requires recent labs and a diagnosis of a mental health condition. Initial treatment consists of 6 infusions over the course of 2 weeks, administered in-clinic by a nurse or nurse practitioner. Clinical staff closely monitor patients during each 40-minute infusion. Some side effects may include nausea or increased blood pressure. Adjunctive medications are available should these effects become distracting, and the effects rarely last more than a few minutes.

Who is this treatment for?

World Health Organization data suggests that 300 million people worldwide suffer from some form of depression. Furthermore, many sufferers labor under conditions that are difficult to treat, conditions that do not respond to mainstream therapies in the desired ways. Ketamine therapy at Infusions of Texas offers an alternative to those with treatment-resistant conditions, with many patients reporting significant positive change after only one infusion.
