The Ketamine Wellness Clinic believes that a multidisciplinary, “team approach” is very important for your health and safety and to maximize the benefit of your infusion treatments. If you do not have a referring provider, the clinic will help put you in contact with one of their providers specifically tailored for your particular needs.
Ketamine infusion costs vary, and since insurance providers rarely cover these treatments, it’s best to check with your carrier beforehand. Upon request, staff will provide an itemized receipt, which you can submit for consideration of reimbursement yourself.
The following medical conditions may preclude you from receiving ketamine infusions: uncontrolled blood pressure, unstable heart disease, intracranial mass, untreated thyroid disease, current manic phase of bipolar disorder, or acute psychotic hallucinations/delusions.
Ketamine Wellness Clinic doesn’t have any set age requirements for receiving ketamine infusion treatments.
Your Treatment: What to Expect at Ketamine Wellness Clinic
On your infusion day, you will arrive at Mission Hospital’s Laguna Beach campus and be greeted by a receptionist who will direct you and your ride to the clinic. You will fill out a brief health assessment prior to your infusion. This assessment will help Ketamine Wellness Clinic’s team to determine your response to the infusion and to tailor the dose and timing of your subsequent infusions.
The clinic’s nurse will then lead you to your room where she will start a small IV in your hand or arm. Staff will provide you with comfortable noise-canceling headphones and light relaxing music to listen to during your infusion, or if you prefer you may bring your own music.
The ketamine infusion is started and you are instructed to recline, relax, and close your eyes. The medicine is given slowly for over 40 minutes (the infusion is longer for pain disorders). During that time, the clinic’s staff will intermittently and unobtrusively monitor your vital signs.
Some patients report out-of-body sensations or mild hallucinations during the infusion process, but these side effects disappear soon after the infusion ends. Most can expect to be at Ketamine Wellness Clinic for approximately 90 minutes from the time you enter the clinic to when you leave, with minimal to no side effects at that point and none between treatments.
