My choice to embrace Spravato treatment wasn’t taken lightly and was something that I was apprehensive about for many reasons. From the outset, from the first meeting in the screening process, to the calls to schedule my first month of appointments, I was greeted with the most incredible warmth and genuine engagement. The entire team at Lumin create a sense of both comfort and professionalism, each contributing their unique strengths and perspectives. Esketamine treatment is part of a holistic journey and this is something that feels very important at Lumin. The calming environment and the valuable insights have helped immensely on my journey.
Having battled profound, treatment-resistant depression for over three decades, I am grateful to have found Lumin Health. This is not my first rodeo with ketamine; I received IV infusion at a world-renowned Boston hospital. It worked, but I did not matter as a patient. Subsequent to that, I tried esketamine elsewhere. Not as effective in my brain as is ketamine. And again, little concern for me, the patient, as a thinking, feeling individual. Dismal. Was overjoyed by my first ketamine-treatment experience at Lumin! The space is calming, from the soothing color of the walls to the decor to the subtle music (ocean waves for me) if desired, and kind reception. And then there is Kerry. Kerry is the NP who administered my first seven treatments. Her warmth and genuine concern is palpable. It radiates and permeates my being, enhancing the impact of ketamine for me. On day one, Kerry was up front in stating that the drug treatment alone is not the answer to all prayers. It was time for me to do the work on the deepest level, rewiring pathways in my brain that had evolved over decades to cope with/compensate for dysfunction, trauma, etc. Wow. Light-bulb moment! This made so much sense and I jumped in. Years of mandatory psychotherapy accompanied my anti-depressant journey. More recent work with a former RN-turned-MSW/life coach and guide has proven helpful. But none of this compares to Kerry’s on-the-spot insight into and assessment of my world and journey as I have briefly shared struggles and efforts to move forward. She is nothing short of brilliant. When I connect with her before receiving ketamine treatments, I feel embraced with her full support and heartfelt intentions for my healing. My brain recognizes this in her and allows me to enter into the deepest space while under the anesthetic of ketamine. I am in a very safe space with Kerry. Also to be noted is the kind, compassionate energy of Jonah, medical assistant and patient advocate. He has been my hand holder during many treatments when I am barely aware.
