Your Treatment: What to Expect

A consultation with one of the Braxia Health experts will help to determine how treatment will proceed. Depending on the nature and severity of the condition, and on other health factors, subsequent infusions take between 1.5 – 2 hours. A usual course of treatment is 4 – 6 infusions over the course of 2 weeks. The most common side effect of infusion is a sense of dissociation from the body, as if floating or dreaming. Though normal, and often somewhat pleasant, some patients become agitated by this sensation. Trained staff closely monitor each patient, and can adjust or administer medication to ease any negative feelings.

Who is this treatment for?

The Braxia Health Toronto clinic provides ketamine therapy for individuals who are seeing no significant positive changes from traditional oral medications. When combined with psychiatric/psychological therapy or counseling, ketamine has shown a remarkable success rate in treating chronic and resistant mental health conditions. Some patients report beneficial effects after only one treatment, and this rapid onset helps patients to feel as if they are making progress while still undergoing treatment, rather than the weeks or months that oral medications can take.
